We're All Gonna Die! Pt. 20

Written by , Posted in Energy and the Environment, Legislation

We’re All Gonna Die, White House edition:

Man-made climate change threatens to stress water resources, challenge crops and livestock, raise sea levels and adversely affect human health, according to a report released by the Obama administration on Tuesday.

The nearly 200-page document on global climate change — released by the White House science adviser and mandated by Congress — does not include new research, but encompasses several recent studies on the effects of global warming over the last half century.

In other words, the White House has rehashed the usual scare-mongering in order to drum up “support” for the upcoming vote on the Waxman-Markey, cap and trade disaster.  In a press release, Sen. Inhofe correctly noted “that despite millions of dollars spent on alarmist advertising, the American public remains rightly skeptical of the so-called ‘consensus’ on global warming.”

Right on cue, the White House’s propaganda arm (MSM) made sure you aren’t being fooled by the nice weather and, you know, general lack of anything approaching Armageddon.

With a cooler-than-usual winter and a mild temperatures leading up to the beginning of summer, global warming alarmists are finding they are losing steam in the debate. But “NBC Nightly News” won’t give up the fight.

…”This less-than-beach-like weather may have you wondering about global warming,” Thompson said. “This cold spell is a snapshot, just a couple of weeks. Global warming is something that happens over decades and centuries. So hang in there, summer and its warmth is on the horizon.”

That news of warm weather and theory of global warming was reassuring for Williams. “Glad to hear that. I was beginning to worry,” he said.

Lest you get too worked up, I am pleased to be able to inform you that our generous leader has a solution: money for the Chicoms!

U.S. Special Envoy for Climate Change Todd Stern said that there was “no question” that China would receive both financial and technological assistance from the United States as part of upcoming climate change talks to be conducted in Copenhagen, Denmark.

“This is a developing country issue, which includes China,” Stern told reporters on Friday.  “I think there is no question that a Copenhagen agreement is going to have to include mechanisms to provide the financial flows and technological assistance to developing countries.”

We’re All Gonna Die! Pt. 19

Lest we all get distracted by the nationalization of the American auto industry, it’s time for a reminder that humanity’s days are numbered. Impending doom threatens us all, as this feisty planet threatens to hiccup us pathetic mortals right off it. This time the messenger of the end of the world is none other than ABC’s “Good Morning America”.

The world is about to end, or at least that’s according to ABC’s “Good Morning America.” The June 2 segment promoted a new special called “Earth 2100.” The program follows Lucy, a girl born in 2009, and her dramatic story about how if we don’t take drastic measures immediately climate change will cause droughts, floods, mass migration, and starvation.

This may sound straight from a science-fiction movie, but “Good Morning America” went to great lengths to assure viewers this wasn’t science fiction and that by airing this series they were changing journalism. Bob Woodruff, host of the special, called making up what will happen in the future “a different kind of journalism.” The segment quoted him saying, “not a prediction of what will happen, but what might happen.”

Just in case you don’t believe ABC’s prognostication, we are now being told that global warming is the real culprit behind the disappearance of Air France Flight 447.  So now it’s not safe to drive or fly!  Next thing you know, global warming is going to cause horses to spontaneously explode.

We're All Gonna Die! Pt. 18

The British are all gonna die…if they don’t kill a bunch of their population first:

JONATHON PORRITT, one of Gordon Brown’s leading green advisers, is to warn that Britain must drastically reduce its population if it is to build a sustainable society.

Porritt’s call will come at this week’s annual conference of the Optimum Population Trust (OPT), of which he is patron.

The trust will release research suggesting UK population must be cut to 30m if the country wants to feed itself sustainably.

Porritt said: “Population growth, plus economic growth, is putting the world under terrible pressure.

The environmentalists hate human progress and prosperity.  They hate that people can better their quality of life, which is why they are all up in arms over the fact that India now has an affordable car.

We're All Gonna Die! Pt. 16

We’re all gonna die even faster than we thought:

The pace of global warming is likely to be much faster than recent predictions, because industrial greenhouse gas emissions have increased more quickly than expected and higher temperatures are triggering self-reinforcing feedback mechanisms in global ecosystems, scientists said Saturday.

“We are basically looking now at a future climate that’s beyond anything we’ve considered seriously in climate model simulations,” Christopher Field, founding director of the Carnegie Institution’s Department of Global Ecology at Stanford University, said at the annual meeting of the American Association for the Advancement of Science.

This increase in doom-mongering and hysteria wouldn’t have anything to do with the public’s decreasing receptiveness to massive environmental regulation of the economy following the economic downturn, now would it?

It’s also worth pointing how how misleading the WaPo headline is.  The headlines states, “Scientists: Pace of Climate Change Exceeds Estimates.” This is deliberately misleading. No one actually measured “climate change” and found that it “exceeds estimates.” All they did was change the data input, which does nothing to address the faults in their models.

We're All Gonna Die! Pt. 15

If global warming doesn’t kill us, the fear of it will drive us all crazy!

Last year, an anxious, depressed 17-year-old boy was admitted to the psychiatric unit at the Royal Children’s Hospital in Melbourne. He was refusing to drink water. Worried about drought related to climate change, the young man was convinced that if he drank, millions of people would die. The Australian doctors wrote the case up as the first known instance of “climate change delusion.”

Robert Salo, the psychiatrist who runs the inpatient unit where the boy was treated, has now seen several more patients with psychosis or anxiety disorders focused on climate change, as well as children who are having nightmares about global-warming-related natural disasters.

Not to let you think it’s all in our heads, the author dutifully reminded us that we really are all going to die:

Over this century, the average global temperature is expected to rise between 1 degrees and 6 degrees Celsius. Glaciers will melt, seas will rise, extremes in precipitation will occur, according to scientists’ predictions.

We're All Gonna Die! Pt. 13

U.S. Energy Secretary Steven Chu thinks we need more gut gripping panic!

Reporting from Washington — California’s farms and vineyards could vanish by the end of the century, and its major cities could be in jeopardy, if Americans do not act to slow the advance of global warming, Secretary of Energy Steven Chu said Tuesday.

…Chu warned of water shortages plaguing the West and Upper Midwest and particularly dire consequences for California, his home state, the nation’s leading agricultural producer.

In a worst case, Chu said, up to 90% of the Sierra snowpack could disappear, all but eliminating a natural storage system for water vital to agriculture.

“I don’t think the American public has gripped in its gut what could happen,” he said. “We’re looking at a scenario where there’s no more agriculture in California.” And, he added, “I don’t actually see how they can keep their cities going” either.

Climate hysteria is now firmly entrentched in the highest offices of government.  So say it with him now: “We. Are. All. Going. To. Die.”

We're All Gonna Die! Pt. 12

Museum edition:

Water, 16 feet of it, smothers the southern tip of Manhattan, covering the landfill of Battery Park City. Tropic coral reefs are stripped of life, their rocks pocked with contusions. Polar bears rummage in junk heaps seeking food amid construction debris. Glaciers split into ice chips, floods ravage coastlines, droughts parch the Earth and forest fires rage untamable.

If the End of Days were going to be portrayed in a museum exhibition, it might look like the array of natural disasters, both real and imagined, that can be found at “Climate Change,” which opens Saturday at the American Museum of Natural History.

There is something almost biblical about these worst-case scenarios, apocalyptically suggested even in the subtitle: “The Threat to Life and a New Energy Future.” And if the plagues promised with global warming don’t include an onslaught of frogs, there is more than enough to worry about: the exhibition predicts proliferation of malaria and desperate foraging of wildlife.

Just don’t wait for the left to get all up in arms about “fear mongering.”  You’re only discouraged to talk about threats that are real, apparently.

We're All Gonna Die! Pt. 11

And by we, I mean the polar bears.

Polar bears and other rare species are in danger of dying out, scientists fear, as latest figures show the Artic sea ice is at record lows.

Scientists from the World Wildlife Fund, who are recording the ice cover over the North Pole, said less ice is predicted in the Arctic this year than in any other.

Experts say this not only means a loss of habitat to species like polar bears and loss of livelihood for indigenous peoples but could speed up global warming as water absorbs heat rather than reflecting the sun’s rays back into space.

Dr Martin Sommerkorn, senior climate change advisor at WWF International’s Arctic Programme, said: “We are expecting confirmation of 2008 being either the lowest or the second-lowest year in terms of summer ice coverage.

“This means two years in a row of record lows since we started recording Arctic sea ice coverage.

I bolded the key point there, in case you missed it.  Sometimes I wonder how smart people can be so dumb.  I don’t know exactly how long we’ve been recording sea ice coverage, but it can’t be very long, at most around 50 years.  Polar bears, to make an understatement, have been around a bit longer than that.  They’ve survived with less ice, with more ice, with warm temperatures, with cold temperatures.  They’re not so delicate as to whither and die from fluctuations within, in the perspective of earth’s climactic history, a normal temperature range.
